Instructor’s queries FAQ's

  • Why do I need to upload a form of identification?

We require a form of identification, such as a passport or driving license, to verify your identity.
This step ensures that we can confirm your credentials and, importantly, process payments for the
    lessons you teach on TutorMate.

  • To complete your profile approval, we require the following documents:
    • Identity Document (Passport or UK Driving License)
    • Education Qualification
    • Immigration Status Share Code (if applicable for UK residents who are UK citizens)
These documents help verify your identity and eligibility to work on TutorMate.

  • You can generate your Immigration Status Share Code by logging into your account on the UK
government’s view and prove your immigration status service. You’ll be able to share the code with
    us once it’s generated.

  • The Immigration Status Share Code is a unique code provided by the UK Home Office that verifies
your immigration status in the UK. This code is used to confirm your right to work or live in the
    UK.

  • If you are living in the UK, we require your Immigration Status Share Code as part of the identity
verification process. This helps us confirm your eligibility to work as a tutor on TutorMate and
ensure compliance with UK immigration laws.

  • Once you receive your DBS certificate, please upload a copy to your TutorMate profile for verification. If you encounter any issues while submitting it, contact our support team for assistance.

  • TutorMate only accepts DBS certificates registered with the DBS Update Service. A subscription to the Update Service lasts for one year. You can renew your subscription through the Update Service, either: when you first register, by choosing automatic renewal. up to 30 days before your current subscription ends – but you cannot renew on the last day of your subscription. Please check: https://www.gov.uk/dbs-update-service

  • TutorMate can help guide you through the process of obtaining your DBS certificate and offer
assistance if you encounter any difficulties during the application process.

  • If you have a criminal conviction or caution, you must disclose it to TutorMate. We will assess
whether you can still tutor on the platform based on the nature of the conviction and its relevance to
    the role.

  • If you are not teaching children or vulnerable adults, you do not need to provide a DBS certificate.
However, if you plan to tutor such students in the future, you will be required to provide one at that
    time.

  • If you choose not to provide a DBS certificate, you may still tutor on TutorMate, but you will be
restricted from working with students who require a DBS check (such as those under 18 or
    individuals receiving healthcare/personal care).

  • You can apply for an Enhanced DBS check through an accredited provider. The process usually
takes up to one month. TutorMate is happy to assist you in getting started if needed.
